The Red Earth Casino in California's Coachella Valley is just that: a casino and nothing more, no restaurant, no rooms. Add to this its location: a quiet highway by the Salton Sea; hardly the center of the gaming world. Yet, ever since it opened just over a year ago, the 13,000-square-foot casino, owned by the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians, has been a resounding success, drawing over 1000 players each day. And if you step inside, you'll understand why.

Everything at Red Earth is geared to maximizing the players' experience and at the same time maximizing revenue. The games, the carpets, the drapes, the slot chairs... they've all been carefully chosen with one objective: customer appeal. There are only 349 slots and four tables, so every last dollar has to be wrung from the operation and the Director of Casino Operations, Kevin Parker, is constantly on the look out for innovative ways to increase revenue. For instance, they recently tried out the SpinSation mystery top box wheel on their IGT and Aristocrat machines and saw slot takings increase.

Solution

Following the SpinSation success, Red Earth's Slot Repair Manager, Anthony Williams, suggested trialing Money Controls' innovative Ardac Elite bill and ticket acceptor in some of their slots and Kevin Parker readily agreed.

Anthony explained why he decided to try Ardac Elite. "Although fraud detection is vital in a bill acceptor, what I also wanted was one that accepted bills on first insertion, even creased, torn and faded bills. If genuine bills are rejected, it lessens players' enjoyment and wastes valuable playing time. The acceptors I had were typically giving first-time acceptance around 90% of the time. I'd heard that Ardac Elite's acceptance rate was in the region of 97% and so we thought we would give it a spin.

"We installed Ardac Elite in eight of our machines in early spring and monitored their performance over a period of three months. The results exceeded my expectations: the average first-time acceptance of street-worn bills was over 98%. And, throughout the three months, the Ardac Elites never once needed attention, not even for simple cleaning."

Result
